An act relating to water, and declaring the urgency thereof, to take effect immediately.

LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL’S DIGEST

SB 1250, as introduced, Hueso. Safe, Clean, and Reliable Drinking Water Supply Act of 2012.

Existing law, the Safe, Clean, and Reliable Drinking Water Supply Act of 2012, if approved by the voters, would authorize the issuance of bonds in the amount of $11,140,000,000 pursuant to the State General Obligation Bond Law to finance a safe drinking water and water supply reliability program. Existing law provides for the submission of the bond act to the voters at the November 4, 2014, statewide general election.

This bill would declare the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would amend the act for the purpose of reducing the bond.

This bill would declare that it is to take effect immediately as an urgency statute.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.  

It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
2legislation that would amend the Safe, Clean, and Reliable
3Drinking Water Supply Act of 2012 for the purpose of reducing
4the $11,140,000,000 bond.

SEC. 2.  

This act is an urgency statute necessary for the
2immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety within
3the meaning of Article IV of the Constitution and shall go into
4immediate effect. The facts constituting the necessity are:

5In order to ensure that California residents are provided with
6safe, clean, and reliable drinking water, it is necessary that this act
7take effect immediately.
