Existing law requires the Central Valley Flood Protection Board to establish and enforce standards for the maintenance and operation of flood control facilities under its jurisdiction.
This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to that provision.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:
Section 8608 of the Water Code is amended to

The board shall establish and enforce standards for the
4maintenance and operation of levees, channels, and other flood
5control works of an authorized project or an adopted plan, including
6but not limitedbegin delete toend deletebegin insert to,end insert standards for encroachment, construction,
7begin delete vegetationend deletebegin insert vegetation management,end insert and erosion control measures.
8In adoptingbegin delete suchend deletebegin insert theend insert standards, the board shall give full
9consideration to fish and wildlife,begin delete recreationend deletebegin insert recreation,end insert and
10environmental factors. Any violation ofbegin delete suchend deletebegin insert theend insert adopted standards
11without the permission of the board is a public nuisance, and the
P2 1board may commence and maintain suit in the name of the people
2of the state for the prevention or abatement of the nuisance.
