An act relating to vitamin supplements.

SB 1333, as introduced, Wyland. Vitamin supplement ingredients: labeling: country of origin.

The Sherman Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Law contains various provisions regarding the contents, packaging, labeling, and advertising of food, drugs, and cosmetics.

This bill would express the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would establish a program within the State Department of Public Health to verify the country of origin for ingredients used in vitamin supplements, and to require the country of origin of vitamin ingredients to be labeled on the container of all vitamin supplements sold in California.

Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.  

It is the intent of the Legislature to enact
2legislation that would establish a program within the State
3Department of Public Health to verify the country of origin for
4ingredients used in vitamin supplements, and to require the country
5of origin of vitamin ingredients to be labeled on the container of
6all vitamin supplements sold in California.
