BILL SUMMARY: 

AB 34 establishes a demonstration grants program to fund a  
selected group of counties for the purpose of providing  
comprehensive services to severely mentally ill adults.   
The bill also expands the Department of Mental Health's   
(DMH) existing standards relating to mental health services  
to include coordination and access to related medications,  
substance abuse services, housing assistance, vocational  
rehabilitation and veteran's services. The bill designates  
$500,000 of the grant money be utilized by DMH to  
administer the programs and to work with other specified  
groups to collect program performance and cost data.
