Summary : Makes changes to the California Work Opportunity and
Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) program. This is one of the

The Senate amendments delete the Assembly version of this bill
and instead:
1)Allow counties to provide CalWORKs services that will assist
individuals to obtain or retain unsubsidized employment to
individuals that would otherwise be eligible for CalWORKs but
who have been convicted of a felony for possession or use of a
controlled substance.
2)Require individuals to have successfully completed, or be
currently participating in, or be willing to enroll in a drug
treatment program as a condition of receiving services.
3)Limit the duration of services to no more than 18 months.
4)Require participants who receive services to submit to and
pass monthly medical drug screening tests.
As passed by the Assembly this bill established the Intervention
Probation and Parole Partnership Act.
Fiscal Effect : Unknown
Comments : This bill was substantially amended in the Senate for
purposes of using this bill as a vehicle for a social services
Budget trailer bill.
