          SUMMARY  :  Provides that the funds appropriated in the Budget Act  
          of 2000 for the secretary for Youth and Adult Correction Agency  
          (YACA) shall constitute the first year of funding for a  
          four-year epidemiological treatment prevention study.   
          Appropriates $125,000 from the General Fund (GF) to the  
          California Department of Corrections (CDC) for preliminary plans  
          for a new medical examination facility at the California Medical  
          Facility (CMF) in Vacaville.  Specifically,  this bill:   

          1)Provides that the funds appropriated in the Budget Act of 2000  
            for the support of the Secretary of YACA shall constitute the  
            first year of funding for a four-year epidemiological  
            treatment prevention study, and the secretary shall report  
            findings and recommendations related to the study to the  
            Legislature no later than August 1, 2005.  The funds  
            appropriated are for use and expenditure for the 2000-2001  
            fiscal year.

          2)Appropriates $125,000 from the GF to CDC for preliminary plans  
            for a new medical examination facility at CMF in Vacaville.

           EXISTING LAW  provides that the Youth and Adult Correctional  
          Agency consists of the Department of Corrections, the Department  
          of the Youth Authority, the Board of Prison Terms, the Youthful  
          Offender Parole Board, the Board of Corrections, and the

          Narcotic Addict Evaluation Authority.

           COMMENTS  :   The amendments deleted the previous version of this  
          bill.
